09/11/2020We are in favor of the responsible repurposing of the many dilapidated business properties in the county, and acknowledge the need for affordable housing in Upper York. Tomorrow night’s (Wednesday, January 13, 7pm) York County Planning Commission meeting is an important one that addresses these issues. The Commission will hear two applications regarding the repurposing of derelict buildings:
1. The George Washington Inn on 2nd Street to be converted into apartments, and
2. The JC Penny building at the Marquis shopping center to be converted into a multi-use building anchored by a church.
The Commission will also hear an application to significantly lift restrictions on home-based businesses in the county, a complex issue that has traffic and noise implications.
